The Lucky One Opening Sequence

The Lucky One is a 2012 romantic drama film directed by Scott Hicks and released April 2012. It is an adaptation of the 2008 novel of the same name, by Nicholas Sparks.

The film opens with having 'Warner Bros Pictures' right at the beginning. It then leads into a second title saying 'Village Roadshow Pictures'. It then fades in to a forest like setting and there is a voice over with a man talking. Whilst the voice over is happening, there is a slow soft music in the background. A blackout then occurs and it goes into a faster paced scene. In this scene there is a loud sound of a helicopter, however you can not see it, which can make the audience question what is going on and where it is coming from. The scene is dark; however there are some flashing lights which are coming from some of the men’s headlights. There is a light sound of beating drums in the background and heaving breathing. The scene is dark and the audience can only hear what is going on, but not see. This is a build up of tension and suspense as they do not know what is going on. It then goes silent for a second and then the sound of guns firing happens. The sound of a heartbeat plays lightly in the background and gradually gets louder. It then cuts to a scene where a man picks up a picture and turns it around and it says ‘Keep Safe’ on the back. An explosion then occurs and then the scene is blurred and fades out. There are no titles in the opening scene, apart from right at the beginning. This is similar to The Bourne Identity as that had not many titles apart from the film title.
