- How do they visually differentiate between verse and chorus?
- How do they use the beat and rhythm in the visual style?
- How do they showcase the star(s)?
- How much do the visuals relate to the lyrics?
- What is the overall concept?
Sub Focus - Endorphins ft Alex Clare
- The visualised difference between verse and chorus is that during the verse's the speed of the video is in slow motion with slow cuts. However, during the chorus the video then begins to get faster with also faster cuts too. This alternates throughout the video on the different verses and choruses.
- The first part of the video begins off at a steady beat with police in the video. The rhythm then starts to get faster and so do the cuts, like the tension is building between the police and the people they are after. When the beat drops the police then raid into a warehouse and then the cuts begin to get faster but then there is a slow motion part which emphasises the police having the people on the ground. When the beat builds up and then drops the cuts and pace in the video become much faster.
- In this particular video, there is not just one star and there is not anyone singing the song in the video. The main characters in the video are the police and the people who are being taken by the police. Both of them are shown in a dark lighting. However, when the people are being taken there is a strong white light also in the dark
- None of the visuals relate to the lyrics. The visuals are more or less the same thing, just being repeated with different people in different scenarios.
- The overall concept is that he is in a relationship with problems and he has been holding on for some sort of miracle and will never give up to save the relationship.
Chase & Status - End Credits
- The visualised difference between verse and chorus is that during the verse, right at the beginning of the music video, everything is in slow motion. However, just before the beat drops, everything speeds up and the cuts are very fast of different visuals from the past. When the chorus plays, the person when he sings there is fast cuts.
- The slow rhythm at the beginning allows everything in the video to start off in slow motion with slow cuts. On the other hand, just before the beat drops there is very sharp and quick cuts, then when the beat drops everything comes much faster with quick cuts throughout the video until it gets to the end. When the end of the video approaches everything starts to slow down and the cuts start to get slower. This is at a time when the rhythm of the song starts to get softer and slower, just like the beginning.
- Throughout the video, the star is showcased in a dark environment. His face is more or less covered by a hoodie throughout the video and is always in dark lighting. However, the majority of shots of the star is always a close up. A lot of the time in the video, it is like he is invisible and not actually meant to be in the scene. Almost as if he is narrating what is happening by singing.
- Some of the lyrics correspond with the video. One example that relates to the visual is when he sings "I know, i'll be on my way to heaven's door" It then shows him on the ground being lifted up mid air, almost as if he is really going to heaven. Also, "I know when I drop" then an old man drops to the floor.
- The overall concept is that he is talking about dying and going to heaven and about what he hopes and thinks will happen.
Calyx & TeeBee - Elevate This Sound
- The visualised difference between verse and chorus is that during verse, there are many close ups and the speed is constant throughout the vast majority of the verse. In the parts of the verse, some bits are blurry, and this does not occur during the chorus. Although, when the chorus is played, everything speeds up. In this video, at the chorus there is also the use of rewinding particular parts. For example, when smoke comes out of someones gas mask, it then rewinds and goes back in.
- When the verse's are being played, the cuts for the video go at a steady speed, this is also in conjunction of the music rhythm as it goes at a steady speed too. On the other hand, when the beat drops, the cuts become more faster and parts of the video also rewind for a second.
- In the video, the star is always located in a dark background and also at times in a blurry motion. He too is dressed in dark clothing and the only thing visible is his face. Although, throughout the video, you never fully see his face. It always different parts, such as half a face or just his mouth.
- Not much of the lyrics correspond to the video. Only a small minority of the visuals relate. For example, when he sings "It had to be now, or never, cause I was going round in circles" then displays hands in a circle shape.
- The overall concept is that he is trying to make a decision about something and it is taking an effect on him and he is struggling to make his mind up.
