How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days Opening Sequence

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is a 2003 romantic comedy film, directed by Donald Petrie, starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. It is based on a short cartoon book of the same name by Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long.

The film opens with the title ‘Paramount’ and then ‘Paramount pictures present’ with upbeat music being played over it. The opening then continues and has parts of magazines moving around the screen whilst the titles are being played. The titles are white and colourful with the surnames in different colours to the first names. A woman is seen to be the main character and is later introduced as Andi. When we meet Ben who is the main male character, the music is changed to a more deep tone with sound of his motorbike engine revving in the background. This can make the audience see him as a dominant male. The titles continue over as he speaks to a woman. The titles are seen to be in the following order:

  • ‘In association with’
  • ‘A_____ production’
  • ‘A _____ film’
  • ‘Actor’s/actresses names’
  • ‘Film Title’
  • ‘Actor’s/actresses names’
  • ‘Casting by’
  • ‘Music by’
  • ‘Music Supervisor’
  • ‘Costume Designer’
  • ‘Edited by’
  • ‘Production designer’
  • ‘Director of photography’
  • ‘Executive producer’
  • ‘Produced by’
  • ‘Based upon the book by’
  • ‘Screenplay by’
