Genre

The genre of my film is going to be romantic drama. I have chosen this because all of my research I have done has developed my knowledge in this genre. I have also looked at particular films on this genre and how titles have been set out.

Target Audience 

As my film is a romantic drama, I have decided that the target audience is going to be for people aged 12 and onwards. When it comes to gender, I would like it to target both male and female. That way it gives my film a wider range target audience as it is targeting more or less everyone.

A Brief Summary

The opening of my film will be about a couple who break up because the boy has to move away for a job and does not want continue with their relationship as it would be long distance relationship. The two main characters include a boy and girl named Jade and Roberto. I have decided to call my film 'Split'. I have chosen this title because it relates to my film and what the characters are going through.

Location

I have chosen to film my opening in a house with parts of it filmed outside the house. I have chosen this because it is the best setting for the topic of my film which is a break up. I believe this will draw my audiences attention more as it takes place in the girls home.

Film Title

I have decided that my film title will be called 'Split'. I have chosen this because I have found that it relates to my film as the couple in it split up. I previously looked at some film titles and found that the titles which were longer did not sound as interesting and sophisticated as the shorter ones did. This is why I chose a one word title. I wanted it to be short and to the point for my target audience.

Casting

I have chosen to use a real life couple who are actually in a relationship who have been together for many years. I have chosen them because I wanted them to act like they really had split up. This way it would show much more emotion in the scene.

Script

I have written a script before hand so the actors know what they are going to say. This will help me to coordinate my film better as I know what is going to be said. The script is:

Jade: hey

Rob: hi

Jade: come in

Rob: thanks

Jade: you took a long time

Rob: I know

Jade: what's going on, you don't seem yourself

Rob: erm, I think we need to talk

Jade: what's going on?

Rob: so you know I've been looking for a job for while?

Jade: yeah

Rob: well I found one

Jade: well that's good

Rob: well it's a bit far

Jade: how far?

Rob: Portugal

Jade: well that's alright

Rob: I've tried long distance before and it didn't work and I don't think it's gonna work now

Jade: we're different

Rob: I think we should break up

Jade: What?
